What should I do if I didn’t receive an account approval email?
Under ‘My Stuff’, select settings. Tap the ‘resend email’ link. An email with a link to approve your account will be sent to that address.
What should I do if I’ve forgotten my password?
On the login page, tap the ‘forgot password’ link and provide your username or account email address. An email with a link to reset your password will be sent to the email address associated with your account.
How do I change my username?
If you are 13 or over, under ‘My Stuff’, select settings. Here you can change your username.
For members 12 and younger, parents can change usernames through the Manage Account feature in the parental approval email.
Who can see my posts?
First, your posts will need to be approved by an I CAN staff member before anyone can see them. If approved, your posts will appear in the section you have posted to (main feed or campaign), on your profile, and will be visible to all I CAN members.
How do I delete a story or comment that I wrote?
There actually isn’t a way for you to delete stories or comments once they have been approved. The I CAN team reviews each submission so we’ll let you know if we think your post needs a bit more work. However, if a post or comment is live that you would like deleted, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know which post and why.
What are super stories and how does my story get selected to be one?
Super stories are those that really show you are taking action to make a difference. We like to see not only what you did, but why and how you did it! Is what you are sharing inspiring to others? Are you encouraging others to also take action? That’s SUPER!
How do I report a story/article that I think is offensive?
Email us at email@example.com and our moderation team will look at the post. Anything inappropriate will be removed.
How do I add friends?
It’s easy. Just follow these steps:
- Go to ‘My Friends’
- Tap ‘Add Friends’
- Type in the username of the friend you’d like to connect with
- Your friend will receive your request
- You will get a notification when your friend accepts your request
- To add a friend, you will need to know the username of that friend. We want to be sure we’re providing a safe online experience.
If someone requests to be your friend, you will be asked to confirm you want to be.
How do points work?
Points are awarded for certain “actions” that you take in the app. You can earn points for things like sharing stories, making friends, completing challenges, and taking pledges. The more time, thought, and effort required to complete an action, the more points you will receive.
What is leveling up?
As you use the app, you will level up and earn donation credits to use towards real projects. Your level is displayed on your profile.
How do I complete a challenge?
To complete a challenge, first accept the challenge. You will be then be prompted to return in a specified amount of time to confirm whether or not you have completed the challenge. Be sure to come back daily and update the status of your challenges.
How do I donate in the app?
To donate on the app, you must have a balance in your account. Money can be added in two ways:
- Earn money through leveling up.
- Money can be deposited into your account via a credit card.
Once you have a balance, select the project you would like to donate to and the amount of your donation.
What is an ambassador and how do I become one?
Ambassadors are members of I CAN Nation who have been active members for at least 30 days and share influential and inspirational content. In other words, making a positive impact in their school and community. We review potential candidates weekly and select a few of those “wow” members to become ambassadors.
What are sponsors?
The I CAN App is very grateful to have businesses and organizations support all of the amazing things that our members do. Sponsors are the ‘power’ behind the I CAN App and reward our members with donation credits as they engage with the app. As well, when a member makes a donation to a project of their own contributed dollars, that donation is matched by our sponsors, turning every $1 donated into $2! Sponsors also support us in the delivery of challenges and campaigns to I CAN Nation.
I want to delete my account.
If you are 12 or under, accounts can be deleted by resending the parent email, then follow the ‘Manage Account’ link and click on ‘Delete my child’s account’.
If you are 13 or older, you can delete your account through Settings under ‘My Stuff’.
